Recharging

Sunday, October 29th, 2006

Hi friends,

I came to music festival for the first time last week. Well,
I went to music festival in Indonesia too, but the scale was not this big. It name Franklin Graham Festival and there
were many of famous gospel musician such as Rebecca St James, Tree-63, Newsboys
and Michael W. Smith. And it held in
Hockey stadium in Winnipeg with
12000 capacities 3 days in row from 20-22 Oct.

The festival was awesome and it was evangelist festival. So
you could come to the festival even you are not a Christian. And the one
important thing is, the festival was free!!!  I came with other IVEPers and we were
having awesome praise and worship songs
for the musician. I missed my church in Indonesia at the time I was listening the songs. Because I could sang the song on fire.
It feels like my spirit was recharging and I could really enjoy every time I
heard the song. It had been a long time I didn’t get this feeling.

I’m not telling that I don’t enjoy the praise and worship in
my church in Winkler, it just different. Anyway, I got a best weekend (so far)
in Canada.

When I worked with the new spirit this week, I got AC
electric shock in my work place. This is the first time too I got 110 voltage
electric shocked. Well, I’m still alive if you ask my condition and I can write
this blog, and if you ask how it feels, it feels like got DC electric shock in
the whole body for a few seconds. I mean even I didn’t touch anything I still
felt it for few seconds. I won’t repeat it again anyway (I hope so :D).

So I got recharged twice in one week, haha.

This Sunday I came to choir music concert in Winkler. It was
wonderful music and good performance from the choirs. Oh, I got time changing
to today. Now my time in Canada is - 6 GMT, and we get 25 hours today at 29 OCT (why
the 24 TV show never happen in this time? : ) ) It is changing because at winter the daylight
is less than winter daylight. And we have to roll back our clock one hour for
that.

It were great experiences and I really enjoy it (except the
shocked, I won’t feel it again if I can choose :) ).

First Snow!!!

Tuesday, October 10th, 2006

Hi,

Today I get my first snow in Canada!!!
It is a wet snow, the snow melt when it hit the ground because the ground is
still hot and need some times to get freeze. And I still freeze even I wear 4
layer of shirts and sweaters and 2 layer of pants. And yesterday I still could
walk in the hill and it still warm. The weather changed so fast!!! And it is
getting cold and cold until next year. I hope I can survive this year :)

I got many new exciting experiences in these 2 months. At
September, there was gala dinner which held by Children Camp’s International
and a church in Winkler. That was a fund raising dinner to collect money. The
Children Camp’s International has some camps in India,
Sri Lanka, Cambodia
and other countries (but they don’t have it in Indonesia).
And they need some money to operate the camps and give the children a free camp
and follow up after the camp to know more about Jesus Christ. And some of the
peoples who work in those camps are volunteers.

Until now I still surprised how an organization can be
operated by many volunteers in it. Even in MCC Thrift Store, all of the peoples
are volunteers except the manager. And there are 300 volunteers in thrift
store. So there is just one people get wage in Thrift Store!!! And we can get
about $30000 per month (net), and the nominal already reduce by monthly cost
and mortgage. They really have responsible in their job even they don’t get any
money from their work (we need it in Indonesia for sure :) ).

And in Canada,
in Christmas they usually give a gift for other family members. This year in
Tena’s family (my host parent), they don’t do it but they will spend the money
for another peoples who really need it. For example, we will buy some foods and
give it to another family who can’t afford for those foods. So we can celebrate
Christmas together with another people. And there are another ideas for spend
the money to other peoples. They have more kindness for other peoples than I
ever imagine.

I had a mind set for North America peoples that they are an individual peoples and just care about their own self.
And I’m pretty sure there are many peoples in Indonesia
have the same mind set. We can’t just generalized peoples I think. And thanks
for God I have a good family in here.
